About Anjalie

I am a graduate of the University of Maryland with a B.S. in Public Health Science. My focus is on reproductive health, menstrual equity, and expanding access to low-barrier healthcare. My passions surround reproductive healthcare, providing care to marginalized communities, and combating period poverty through menstrual health education. I have served on the board of both the Washington, D.C. and San Francisco chapters of PERIOD., a global organization that advocates for menstrual equity and addresses period poverty.

In my roles, from medical assistant to AmeriCorps member, I have seen the difficulties of navigating healthcare systems. The current healthcare model is not built to be accessible to marginalized populations, such as unhoused folks or the trans community. Whether it be the puzzling ways of U.S. health insurance or the lack of cultural competency among providers, there are barriers that exist that do not even come to mind at first glance.

I plan on attending graduate school to practice as a Physician Associate in the coming year, specifically hoping to work in underserved communities to increase access to equitable healthcare.
